Anita Black is a Canberra-based clinical psychologist who enjoys working with adult and adolescent clients in relation to a range of issues, including: bi-polar disorder, depression, anxiety, trauma and PTSD, interpersonal problems (including couple therapy), addictive behaviours, self-esteem, grief and loss, life-transitions, personality disorders, parenting, anger-management, and the management of chronic illness.
Key interventions Anita employs include Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT), Emotion-Focussed Therapy (EFT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Mindfulness-Based Stress-Reduction (MBSR), Social Rhythm Therapy, Eye-Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive-Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Schema Therapy, Brief Solution-Oriented Psychotherapy, Psychodynamic Psychotherapy and a range of evidence-based couple and family therapies.
Anita offers Medicare rebates to clients who have a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP), which can be obtained from your GP. When booking with your GP, please advise the practice receptionist that you are booking for a MHCP, as a 30 minute GP consultation is usually required.
Anita's hourly fee is $190.00 per 55 minute session, and you will receive a Medicare rebate of $125.50 for up to 10 sessions per year if you have a MHCP. Anita offers a reduced fee of $155.00 per 55 minute session Pension and Health Care Card holders. She also accepts clients through Comcare, as well as other Employee Assistance Program and insurance providers (e.g. NRMA, Workcover, TAC).
HICAPS facilities are available for those clients who wish to access health-fund rebates. Please check with your fund to determine how much rebate will be available to you per year for clinical psychology services.
